Here is a guide to what you need to know if you like the idea of combining culture and rugby on a holiday in Italy.

6 Nations dates

Three 6 Nations rugby matches will be played in Italy in 2015. They will all be played at the excellent Stadio Olimpico in Rome, which has a 70,000 capacity, and they will be held on the following dates:

  • February 7th vs Ireland;
  • March 15th vs France;
  • March 21st vs Wales.

How to see the matches

If you want to watch 6 Nations rugby in Rome, there are different ways that you can arrange to see the matches. Firstly, you could buy your tickets separately and then plan your holiday around the dates. However, perhaps more conveniently, you could buy your whole trip in a package like those currently offered by Italian holiday specialists Bellarome.

What does a package include?

Different holiday providers will include different things in their 6 Nations packages. However, typically they will involve accommodation and flights, transfers and tickets to the rugby.

They may also include some extras, such as a meal at a traditional restaurant in Rome, a bus tour of the city or even guided tours to see some of the best attractions.

No matter how you want to arrange your holiday, remember that the earlier you book, the better the prices are likely to be. After you have arranged your holiday, you will also have longer to start planning what you will see and do.

Enjoy a unique atmosphere

One of the best reasons to visit Rome during the 6 Nations is to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere in the city. You will be able to see a different Rome, and this is especially true if Italy win their matches, when the celebrations will go on long into the night.

Discover Rome and beyond

Rome is a beautiful city that you could easily spend weeks exploring. There are so many things to see and do, including world-class attractions like the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, the Roman Forum, the Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica and more.

Alternatively, stay for the weekend in Rome to see the rugby, and then go somewhere else to see more of Italy. There is so much to see in the country, from cities like Florence, Venice and Milan to regions like Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.

Using the 6 Nations as your reason to go to Italy, you can then enjoy seeing more of the country by travelling to a number of different places.

Plan your visit soon

Start planning early to get the best rates for your holiday in Rome. And remember, you don’t have to stick to Rome, so start thinking now about other areas of the country that you would like to see on your holiday, and plan your 6 Nations trip.
