I have been to Merseyside many times, dating way back to 1996 when I watched Liverpool v. Tottenham Hotspur live at Anfield. The last 7 years or so, my youngest brother Daniel has lived in Liverpool and the Wirral and I was able to visit him about 10 times. I love the vibe of the city. As Autumn approaches in Liverpool, Tranmere, Wallasey and Birkenhead, it’s a super time for romance. Besides, with Brexit looming, get your mind off politics by indulging in some fine dating options in and around Merseyside.   England has a notorious reputation for being a nation where you’re prone to be served some quite unsatisfying food, however I’m not certain that is a fair reputation. The UK draws motivation from the cooking of numerous different nations so it’s actually very varied. This post was posted by TheHipmunk on Hipmunk’s Tailwind blog on September 21st 2015. On September 9, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest reigning British monarch in history, passing the record set by her grandmother, Queen Victoria. In her 63 years on the throne, she has seen the world move into the modern age politically, culturally, and scientifically. She may well go down in history as the technological Queen: her coronation in Westminster Abbey was the first ever to be broadcast on television, and her annual Christmas broadcast is now available on YouTube. She even wrote her first tweet last year about London’s Science Museum. The […]

You might have read about my recent return to England and the charms I enjoyed there not to mention catching up with some old friends. I visited hippy Camden Town again, breezed my way through London and wound up in Birmingham and Liverpool again. Liverpool is of course home to the Beatles – the greatest rock n roll band of all time. Lennon lovers and McCartney maniacs rave about their trips to Liverpool to ride in a fake yellow submarine, drink some beer down the Cavern Club and get their hair cut on Penny Lane. Away from all that you need a decent place to stay and the superb Elegant […]

If you read our cool post on backpacking through Christiania in Copenhagen recently, this place is even funkier but without the whole crazy sh*t of leaving the country. In Christiania you’ve left Denmark for a hippy freetown. Here in Camden, your body is still in England, your mind might be elsewhere. Here are 5 top things to check out in Camden Town, London, England. […]

When you travel as long as me, sometimes you will end up renting a flat now and then, as a couple of my backpacking buddies have recently done. While I’m still of “no fixed abode”, I have rented flats in England before. Traditionally, the rental market in English coastal resorts like Southport, Bournemouth and Brighton was to a large extent young people starting out on their own or individuals who could not afford to buy a home of their own. Yes, I know – I once rented flats in Poole, Bournemouth and Dartford! Those were the days before I’d avoid long term contracts. Today the […]
