Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden is a very old way of thinking. Golf is a sport that both men and women can play. The only different is the clubs that are used; in general women’s are shorter, more flexible and lighter. This is because ladies have a smaller build compared to men and the swing is slower. These clubs can be distinguished by the color of the grips and shafts as they generally come in pastels.

This sport began in Scotland and in the middle 1400s King James II banned it as it was keeping the archers from practicing with their bows. About 34 years later this game was allowed to be played again. As in all different games and sports there are certain rules that need to be obeyed and these were first written down in 1744.

The course that this is played on has 18 holes and the person that completes it with the least amount of hits wins. There are many valleys and water hazards added to give it that extra complexity. The rules are that if one hits the ball it needs to be played from where it lands. The only exception is if this is impossible, one is then allowed to move the ball slightly to an easier point but it must be fair to the rest of the players.

There are a few different bags that can be used. The cart bag tends to be bigger and has more pockets to put little items in. It is used when driving on the cart and tends to fit very snuggly. It however should be avoided if one likes to walk as it is heavy. The stand bag is better for those that prefer to walk as it is much lighter and does not have to be left to lie on the ground allowing everything to roll away. The tour bags are used for the professionals and they are very heavy and expensive.

Not all of the balls are made the same, they come in the same size and color and have a dimpled feel to them but that is where it ends. There are those that will give a different feel of weight to it as well as the times it will spin when hit and others will give a different trajectory. There are three categories and each one needs to be used according to the swinging speed. It is best to ask someone who has knowledge to help if this is ones first time playing.

The shoes come in either spiked or normal and it is sometimes confusing when to wear them. Many people prefer to wear without the spikes as it can interfere with the leg when turning after hitting the ball. Some say that it helps to prevent slipping while doing the same thing. It is a matter of opinion and personal preference. Whichever equipment one uses in the beginning it will not make much of a difference as one is concentrating more on just trying to hit the ball.

One will always need to cover up from the sun and using a sunscreen is very important. One will spend many hours playing and having a hat and sun glasses will help give extra protection. If playing with a few friends take an umbrella along to stand under as not all courses provide shade at the greens. Wherever you are heading for your golfing experience please don’t forget about booking a flight and hotel package in advance of your trip.
