1. Whale Watching

Each day, a boat leaves from Newport Landing to usher passengers into the beautiful Pacific where they will witness nature at its most majestic.

The Newport Landing Whale Watching cruises run year round, though the beautiful grey whale’s migration period is at its prime from December through April. The warmer months bring blue whales, dolphin pods, seals, killer whales, and sharks to the waters surrounding Laguna Beach and nearby areas. No matter when you’re visiting the OC, you’ll be able to take advantage of this once in a lifetime experience.

2. Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm is divided into five themed areas, including the Old West Ghost Town, Camp Snoopy, and the new Boardwalk area. With so much diversity packed into one theme park, every member of the family will find something to thrill them.

Dozens of exhilarating rides, attractions, and old-fashioned family fun await you at Knott’s Berry Farm. Don’t forget to check out the Xcelerator in the Boardwalk area, which blasts riders off at a staggering 82 MPH in just three seconds!

3. Orange County Great Park

This isn’t your typical playground. The Orange County Great Park has planted deep roots within the community, serving as the first metropolitan park of the 21st century. The park is being built with a major focus on sustainability and innovation; it is composed of recycled building materials from historical military bases that have been broken down. When it is completed, it will be as big as NYC’s Central Park and Prospect Park combined.

Visitors to the OC Great Park can stroll the Farmer’s Market, ride the carousel, or enjoy free concerts, movies, or dances during August and September. Food trucks roll through the area on a regular basis, and children can learn about conservation at Kid’s Rock.

5. Jetpack America

If operas and ballet is too stuffy for you, you won’t want to miss Jetpack America, where you can fly the world’s first recreational jetpack.

Water propels the Jetlev R200, which allows you to hover 30 feet above the ocean. Potential pilots take a brief crash course to learn the ins and outs of jetpacking before instructors let them loose for 20 to 30 minutes of flight time. It’s safe, fun, and totally unforgettable.

The next time you visit the OC, get creative. The area is overflowing with activities you won’t find anywhere else in the country, so take advantage of your stay and start an adventure!
